CDOBloggers Celebration For World Bloggers Day

CDObloggers celebrated World Bloggers Day last May 2, 2012. This years theme is It's more FUN in Blogging and Social Media! And it is indeed more fun because CDOblogger had an instant meet-up made possible through Facebook. 2 hours after our Facebook conversation, all of us are seen at Big Flat Bread Corrales enjoying pizza.

A lot of Cdobies was not able to join though coz aside from the fact its short notice it was also a workday. Evidently  seen on @Nursegermz who brought work to the gathering. :D

We had a fun and great conversation while enjoying the enormous pizza. Check it out on the video below..

And yes, as expected... CDObloggers has this habit of a never-ending-chikahan so even if we already said our goodbyes to head home to go back to work you still see this after...

CDOBloggers Cadayunan Outreach

Last December CDOBloggers, Inc had a Outreach and Feeding Program at Cadayunan Primary School in Besigan. I wasn't able to joined on that day due of my other responsibilities. My fellow CDOBloggers had an exciting experienced going there because they ride on a  Government dump truck, of which the only means of transportation. After the thrilling and bumpy ride they had to walk up to the mountain where the Cadayunan Primary School is situated.
When they arrived excited faces of kids are already waiting. A small program was held of which kids were able to win prizes and enjoy.

It was a pleasure seeing those kids happy with the presents they have received. We also donated some activity books and old text books we have gathered. In behalf of the CDOBloggers, Inc we would like to thank all the Paypal and cash donors for helping us with our cause. We would also like to thank the following sponsors for sending their products for our loot bags.
Guard Insect Repellent Lotion for the insect repellent lotion
Firefly Toothbrush for the toothbrush
Dhadha Garcia for the toothpastes

30 Day Blog Challenge: DAY 5 - CDOBloggers Relief Operation For Typhoon Sendong Victims Part 1

When typhoon Sendong devastated Cagayan de oro the CDObloggers, Inc did our fair share of help also. We help disseminate and relay  important matters that needed attention online. Through social media and blogging we were able to update everyone on the city's current situation, knock on National Media's doors for coverage (because they hardly news feature on any of the national tv because they are busy having Christmas parties) and also raise funds through online donations.

On the 3rd day of Sendong's devastation, I and along with few CDObloggers volunteered at Xavier University. We brought in our un-used and still wearable clothing for donations and then help on packing relief packs.

30 Day Blog Challenge: DAY 3 - Sun Cellular's Meet and Greet

This isn't what I did today but what I did last March 27, Tuesday also. CDObloggers had a meet and greet dinner with Sun Cellular's executives; James and Jocel at Bigby's Cafe & Restaurant.
While waiting for the dinner to arrive we talk about a lot of things including some great news from Sun Cellular. One of them is, Sun Cellular is expanding its network coverage in the Mindanao area to bring its best value services to more customers in Southern Philippines. And following its intensified network expansion program, Sun Cellular launched its first salvo of new and better value postpaid plans, the Postpaid Plan 250 initially available in Mindanao.
To learn more of this exciting news from Sun Cellular just visit the following links:

I would also like to thank Sun Cellular for the freebies that they gave. It'll be exciting to try Sun Cellular's internet connectivity since I have heard a lot of good reviews on its connection speed. This is also perfect freebie since my Smartbro plugit just recently died a few weeks ago.

Region X Tourism Director's Locally Made Tokens

CDOBloggers group had a courtesy call to Regional Director Catalino Chan III at Department of Tourism office last February 21, 2012. This is part of the preparation of eXtreme Mindanao that the group will be organizing this coming May.
The moment we arrive at Director Chan's office I was already entertained at the decors displayed around the room. Some of it are local made products and some are noticibly from foreign countries. As we progress on our discussion about CDOBloggers organization, eXtreme Mindanao event and Mindanao's tourism status mommy Dharlz couldnt help but about the locally dress doll token behind me. Director Chan enthusiastically explained to us that it was indeed locally made and was given as a token at one of Mindanao's tourism caravan last year which was held at mall of asia.

He also showed us some of other locally made tokens he got when he travela and attend tourism events and comferences in both national and international affairs.
This one Director Chan's holding is from Palawan.

This Abanika is locally made in Bukidnon of which he brought in a conference in Japan as his tokens to other delegates in representation of Mindanao.

This flower made from corns skin is displayed in the table in front of me. Its so nice that you wouldn't even notices its made from corns skin.

A Call For Help For A Friends Mom

A fellow blogger and current VP-External of CDOBloggers Inc, Roxanne Gutierrez, is appealing to those who have generous hearts to help her out. Please take some time to read and spread her words.
Dear friends,

On March 5, 2012, my mom felt she has to undergo a check-up because her left eye could no longer see. On March 7, she went to the EENT but the doctor did not see anything wrong with her eye. She also had laboratory tests to check if there's something wrong with her system which caused the blurred (almost blind) vision. All test results were normal. She was then referred to an eye specialist at CUMC. On March 8, 2012, she went to the Eye Center at CUMC and undergone 4 tests. A swollen nerve was found in the frontal lobe of her head near the eye. Because of this, she was admitted because the treatment has to be injected on a dextrose every six hours. She stayed in the hospital for four days. On the third day, she was already able to see clearer this time. Probably because the medicine was taking effect. However, she still had the MRI to check the cause of the swollen nerve. On sunday, March 9, the results came. Bad news!! There was a mass (cyst) found on the frontal lobe her head which was attached to her bone. The doctor advised her to see a neurologist. Intial finding includes Bone metastasis, multiple myeloma, and lymphoma which are all cancerous. Because of financial constraint, we could not afford to stay longer at the hospital so we took her out on Monday (March 10). We paid P50,000+ at the hospital. That's the last money we had and it even came from a loan.

My mom went to see a neurologist last March 13. After a CT scan and a check-up, the doctor said my mom has to undergo an operation to get the cyst (brain tumor) and check if its benign or malignant. Because the mass is attached to the bone, a more critical procedure has to be done and she has to have a plastic surgery after the operation to shape the head to its normal form. Also, there will be complications expected to happen so she also has to undergo medication, treatments, and has to stay in the hospital throughout the recovery process. The result will take a long time. If it's benign, then ok. If it's malignant, then chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or both will be done.

For this operation alone, we need more or less P200,000.00 (70,000 - prof fee, 20,000- operation fee, and others for medication and treatment) on or before March 21 (the schedule of mom's operation).

Now, my problem is that I'm the only working person at home (aside from my mom). And my salary and benefits as a teacher could not suffice for the amount needed. We already raised an amount through many loans but it is still not even enough for the doctor's downpayment.

Now, I'm appealing to those who have generous hearts to help us out. I don't know where to get the remaining amount we need. If you know some persons who would be willing to lend or donate us some amount, we would appreciate it if you refer us to them. Also, if you know of other means to be able to raise the amount we need, let us know also. We would pay in any way we can.

This is already a desperate move for me. But I hope that you understand. My mom is having self-pity now and she's saying she's giving up and that she doesn't want to cause us trouble anymore. But as her daughter who have been her right hand for everything, I'll do my best to seek assistance for her.

Thank you for reading this and may God bless you a hundred fold.
For those who want to extend their helping hand you may contact Roxanne through her Facebook and Twitter

A Meeting With Geiser Maclang Team

CDO bloggers had a meeting with Geiser Maclang Team last February 11, 2011 at the Cafe Laguna. The purpose of the meeting was to talk about the progress and immediate need of Kagay-anons who has suffered from the typhoon Sendong wrath. Geiser Maclang Team is planning to help Cagayan de Oro rise again in terms of business, livelihood and emotional stability for the victims. They ask helped from us bloggers to determined in which part are still lacking and what is a feasible project that would help Cagayan de Oro and its people.

As the meeting progress on, Miss Amor Maclang mentioned that she also want to do something that will help the tourism in Cagayan de Oro. And thats where the Extreme Mindanao event take shape. CDOBloggers has been planning this extreme adventure event since late last year but due to the calamity that struck the city all plans put on hold since everyone is busy reviving and helping others. When Miss Amor Maclang heard about our planned she excitedly offer helped for the event to push trough. It was an awesome meeting because it was as if made to take place.

This eXtreme Mindanao event is not only for Cagayan de Oro that would benefit but also Mindanao's tourism. And so CDOBloggers Inc is looking forward for this team up with Geiser Maclang.

And on behalf of my fellow Kagay-anon I would also like to thank Geiser Maclang Team for the passion of helping others and putting in great effort to help Cagayand de Oro rise again.

So what am I busy with while waiting for the time?
Aside from blogging, I'm also writing contact details on the raffle tickets which I bought. This raffle ticket is for the Christmas fund raising for special kids. My aunt, who also has a special daughter, ask me to help sell this tickets a few weeks ago and with the help of my CDOblogger friends all tickets given to me is sold out. However, some was not able fill up the tickets with their details that is why I'm writing for them now. Well, I actually don't mind the important thing is that they bought the tickets. All in all there's 200 tickets I need to finish filling up because my aunt will be picking this tickets later.

Its a new primary school in Sitio Mamboloso, Besigan.

Me on Social Media Promotions

I know I've been off the hook in this blog for a month already but anyhow ill post updates soon. For now I just want to invite all who are interested to learn about blogging, web marketing and working from home.
I will be one of the speakers of CDOBloggers 3rd Blogging Workshop. I will be sharing my knowledge on social media promotions. Unlike my previous talks this one I think is more on the serious business talk. I'll share a bit of an overview on my topic...

Social media has different web based technology tools which allow folks to connect quickly online to share reviews and information. Regardless what type of media you will be sharing online, with the click of a button you could already reach local or global audiences. As a matter of fact Youtube is the second largest search engine in the word and in the US, there are 149M active Facebook users, 70% log in once a day. So imagine the impact in using this on web marketing and promotion along with other popular and interactive social media platforms.

To know more on maximizing your social media promotion CDO Bloggers group will be having a 3rd Blogging Workshop on October 22 · 1:00PM - 5:00PM at Loreto's Grill and Restaurant.

Buy tickets now because seats will be limited. Ticket is inclusive with not only the web marketing tips but also with 1 snack and certificate.

And earlier today, I just received a packaged from Miss Aileen Apolo-De Jesus with Google freebies. This freebies will be swags at the workshop. You might be the next one wearing this hot items from Google so buy you're tickets now!

The CDObloggers School Tours

As a way of sharing and helping others on the awareness about blogging we CDObloggers are having a series of School Tours to different schools and universities. This free workshop on blogging will help students understand the concept of blogging, encourage confidence in writing an online journal to enhance writing skills, share knowledge and get an idea of the endless possibilities online.

Last March 2011, the first CDObloggers School Tour happened in Cagayan de Oro College (COC). It was attended by the Mass Communication students. I was one of the speakers sharing about
  • Content Development in Blogging
  • Richard shared How to Customize your Blog
  • Edu on Blogging Ettiquette
  • And Mike on the About Us of CDObloggers Organization.
The students were very attentive and silent that adds up the nervousness I felt from the start. Even if that was no longer my first time to talk on workshops I still feel nervous. Well, I always has this speakers dilemma of whether or not they are going to understand everything I discussed in front. :D

The second CDObloggers School Tour happened last August 13, 2011 at the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST). It was attendend by more or less 270 Information Technology (IT) students. When we arrived, the AVR was already roaring with noise because they were having a little program before the workshop. The topics discussed were;
  • Blogging and its benefits by Chiq
  • Different Types of Blog by Me
  • Blogging Ettiquette by Edu
  • About CDObloggers Inc by Vic
The students were very alive and responsive so the minute I step on the stage my nervousness flew away. They are also attentive and you can see that others even take down notes from our talks. Which really gives us, speakers, a boost of confidence that they are listening to everything we shared.

In behalf of my fellow CDObloggers group thank you very much to COC Mass Communication students and MUST Information Technology students. It was a pleasure sharing our knowledge to you and we hope we have imparted knowledge that will help you through.
